The iPhone 5 is up for some beating if the rumoured specs for the new Blackberry Laguna are real.

The latest buzz reveals that the Blackberry 10 device will have a whopping 4.2-inches capacitive display with a 1280×768 pixel resolution, a 15:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 355 ppi.

Other rumoured specs include an 8-megapixel, 1080p video capable primary camera with flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

The phone will be powered by a dual core Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon MSM8960 with 1GB of RAM. Onboard storage will be 16GB and there’ll be MicroSD capability.

Connectivity includes 4G LTE, 3G and CDMA, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, MicroUSB, DLNA, Bluetooth, Micro HMDI, GPS and NFC.

The whole package will be run from an 1800mAh removable battery pack. All of these will be packed into a 9mm-thin body.

The new device is expected to land in Q1 of 2013.

The UK counterpart of the Laguna is the Blackberry London, which similarly offers a dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM and is thought to be the international variant.

If there is any truth to these reports, Blackberry is surely set to rise from its current slump.
