BlackBerry today announced the BlackBerry Z30 smartphone, the company’s first entry into the phablet market. The Z30 is now available for pre-order from Harvey Norman and will soon be on sale from Telstra, Optus and other authorised resellers by the end of October.

The BlackBerry Z30 features a 5-inch display and runs on BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2. Moreover, the Z30 sports some of the features that are exclusive to BB OS 10 handsets including BlackBerry Priority Hub which gives users instant access to conversations and most important content to help keep users organised.

It also has BBM with an Any App Preview that allows users to get a preview of any message as it arrives on any app. The Z30 also comes with stereo speakers and the company’s Natural Sound technology that makes BBM Voice and Video chats sound more natural and realistic.

In terms of practicality, the Z30 uses BlackBerry’s new generation antenna technology that improves reception to give users better connectivity, better data transfer rates and fewer dropped calls in low-signal areas. On top of that, the device also sports a hefty 2880mAh battery that can last for as much as 25 hours of mixed use.

The BlackBerry Z30 will be available for a suggested retail price of AUD $749 without contract starting November 1. Optus on the other hand will begin offering the Z30 by 29 October while Telstra customers will be able to get the device starting October 29th.
