Belkin announced today WeMo Baby, a sleek and small device that turns a smartphone or tablet into a digital baby monitor.

The device was introduced today at Digital Parents Conference, an annual bloggers event where, this year, Belkin showcased a variety of technologies and accessories with parent-friendly features. The device works over 3G/4G or Wi-Fi and makes use of an app that can be downloaded and installed on nay iOS phone or tablet and allows users to stream high-quality audio from a baby’s room to a smart device.

WeMo Baby also works with multiple devices making it possible for both parents and even the babysitter to listen in all at the same time. There’s also an optional upgrade service courtesy of Evoz that provides additional features including advanced monitoring, cry notification via text or email, cry history, and analysis of a baby’s crying and sleep patterns.

The Belkin WeMo Baby will be available from May 1 with a recommended retail price of $99.95 while the Evoz premium service app upgrade will be available for $5.49 a month.
