Australia, Netflix is finally here

As of a few minutes ago, Australians are now able to subscribe to Netflix; the popular streaming service went live for local users at midnight. Customers are able to sign up for a free trial on one of three price plans and start using the service immediately. Users registering for a free trial are required to provide payment details at sign-up.

Netflix's Australian pricing tiers are as follows:

Single-stream standard definition plan for AUD$8.99

Two-stream high-definition plan for AUD$11.99

Four-stream 4K ultra-high definition "family" plan for AUD$14.99

Despite the inclusion of Australian content such as Summer Heights High and Redfern Now, iconic local productions such as The Castle and Muriel's Wedding are strangely absent.

In addition to Netflix's original content such as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, the local version of the service includes highlights such as Mad Men, Suits, Spartacus, Drive, Firefly and Orphan Black.
