The 68th World Sci-Fi Convention will make its way to Melbourne in 2010. The event, which has affiliations with more than 30 countries will run for seven days over September at the Melbourne Convention Centre.

Major Projects Minister Theo Theophanous believes the event will have universal appeal and is expecting thousands of sci fi fans to converge on Melbourne for the event.

Says Theophanous: “Melbourne was chosen to host this event because of its world-class Melbourne Convention Centre, which has already attracted 34 international conventions, bringing nearly 66,100 delegates to Melbourne and worth more than $350 million to the Victorian economy,”

It’s predicted that Aussiecon 4 will feature international guests from sci fi shows, panels with sci fi writers and directors and showcase new technology.
