ASUS has announced a range of notebooks featuring support for Intel’s ‘Sandy Bridge’ second generation Intel Core processors.

ASUS notebooks in the G, K, N and VX7 Series now utilise smart performance and Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, enhancing mobile computing performance with up to 8-way multitasking, claims the manufacturer. They offer consumers seamless graphics and multimedia performance with the help of proprietary ASUS technology.

ASUS also revealed four new tablet computers designed for a wide range of uses and applications — The Eee Pad Slider, Eee Pad Transformer, Eee Pad MeMO and Eee Slate EP121. The new models are available with three screen sizes, and a choice of either Windows 7 Home Premium or Google Android operating systems.

The Eee Pad Slider features a 10.1-inch IPS touch-screen, and also a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.  It is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor with a dual-core CPU and NVIDIA GeForce GPU.

The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer has a slim lightweight design and 10.1-inch capacitive touch-screen that is designed for people who want to enjoy multimedia on the move, but still wish to have easy access to the web, email and other productivity applications. A custom user interface provides easy access to the many features of the Android 3.0 operating system, while the NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset provides full support for Adobe Flash, HD video conferencing and playback.

The Eee Pad MeMO has a 7-inch capacitive touch-screen that makes it small enough to slip into a jacket pocket. The Android 3.0 operating system offers a range of productivity and entertainment software, while a Micro HDMI port means the MeMO can connect to an external display for full 1080p HD video playback.

Finally, there is the Eee Slate EP121, which is designed for users who require a portable handheld device that can also run standard office software while multitasking with other applications. Powered with an Intel Core i5 dual-core processor, the Eee Slate features a 12.-inch LED-backlit display with a 1280 x 800 resolution and a wide 178-degree viewing angle, making it suited for both productivity applications and multimedia entertainment.
