ASUS Release First Android Tablet To Offer Full HD

  • Comes with detachable keyboard
  • Two models available
  • Battery saver function

ASUS claims that its Transformer Pad Infinity is the world's first Full HD Android tablet that features Full HD 1920 x 1200 Super IPS+ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, ASUS SonicMaster sound technology, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

It also is said to deliver both a tablet and netbook in one product by way of a detachable keyboard dock. Developed by the ASUS in house design team with a focus on end-user needs, the Transformer range successfully bridges the gap between a media consumption platform and a productivity tool.

At the heart of the tablet is NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 T33 4-PLUS-1 quad-core CPU, which also contains a 12-core GeForce GPU. The battery-saver core on the CPU handles low-power tasks such as active standby, music and video, and is transparent to the OS and applications. Running at 1.6GHz, the quad-core processor drives the Full HD experience, while the display's 16:10 aspect ratio, 1920 x 1200 native resolution and wide 178-degree viewing angle means it's designed for watching Full HD video, playing the latest HD games and also browsing the web. This can be achieved both indoors and outdoors, due to the Super IPS+ technology built into the display. Finally there is the ASUS Sound technology that features a combination of hardware and software designed to deliver immersive and lifelike audio.

It has a forged aluminium construction, is 8.5mm thin and weighs 598g and when combined with the ASUS exclusive Mobile Dock, the Infinity turns into a productivity workstation with up to 14 hours of battery life. It comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and multi-touch touchpad, while the USB port and SD card slot provide additional storage options.

An 8MP rear camera with auto-focus and an LED flash allows the unit to take sharp, vibrant photos due to its F/2.2 aperture, five-element lens, back-illuminated CMOS sensor, touch-to-focus capabilities, shallow depth of field, low light noise reduction and a wide 75-degree angle of view (28mm equivalent focal length).

The rear camera also has the ability to record Full HD 1080p video at 30fps, while the 2MP front camera is ideally suited to video conferencing.

There are two models with either 32GB or 64GB of internal memory, plus 8GB of free storage on ASUS WebStorage for life.
