Asus plans to give consumers everything they want in different devices into a single package with the announcement of the Transformer Book V in Taiwan at this year’s Computex tech show.

The Taiwanese manufacturer has combined the technologies it used on its PadFone line and its Transformer Book offerings in order to come up with the Transformer Book V (five). Basically, the device is composed of two components – an Android running smartphone and a Windows-based laptop-tablet hybrid.

The laptop-tablet hybrid features Intel’s next-generation Core processors which is complemented with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB flash storage with a 1TB 7mm hard drive. The graphics on the 2-in-1 is provided by an Intel HD graphics card and a 12.5-inch 720p display.

The device also comes with its own HD camera and a 2-cell battery. At the back of the tablet unit is a slot for the phone unit to plug in. Once the handset connects to the laptop, the Android UI is displayed within Windows 8 as a small window or switch to the full Android tablet interface.

The phone is packing a 5-inch IPS HD display, an Intel Atom quad-core processor, with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. There’s also an 8MP camera at the back, a 2MP snapper at the front and a 2550mAh battery. The phone will run on Android 4.4 KitKat with Asus’ Zen UI on top.
