Apple sent out an email today to developers who are part of its Developer Center informing everybody of a security breach that happened last week.
According to the email sent by Apple today, no sensitive personal information (including credit card information) was accessed. However, developers’ names, mailing addresses and email addresses may have been compromised. Also, TechCrunch reports that only developer accounts have been hacked and standard iTunes accounts were not affected.
At present, the Developer Center is still down and Apple has not provided a time table on when the site will be back. Moreover, Apple said that they waited three days to alert developers because they were trying to figure out exactly what data was exposed. Moreover, the company said that they are already overhauling their developer systems, updating their server software and rebuilding their entire database in order to prevent similar security attacks in the future.
