Apple recalls AC adapters over risk of electric shock

Affected Australian wall plug adapters have two prongs, and either a four- to five-digit code on the slot where it attaches to a power adapter, or no code (as pictured above, on the left). Redesigned adapters have a three letter regional code instead, and are not part of the recall (as pictured above, on the right).

Affected customers are able to exchange their adapters at an Apple Store via a Genius Bar appointment, through authorised Apple service providers, or by contacting Apple Support. Alternative, customers can request a replacement through Apple’s website. Customers are required to provide the serial number of the affected Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPad in order to obtain a replacement unit.

Further information regarding the exchange program is available on Apple's website.
