Those looking at buying a new iMac but don’t have enough money to splurge for an AIO will definitely be happy with Apple’s most recent announcement about this device.

The Cupertino company has just released a more affordable version of the 21.5-inch iMac that US$200 cheaper than the previous model, which is now priced at around US$1299 (AU$1381).

Of course there will be some trade-offs with this price drop. For starters, the processor will be downgraded to a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor from the 2.7GHz quad-core CPU from the more expensive model. Storage and graphics will also be affected, which is now at 500GB and Intel HD Graphics 5000 respectively.

Other than the changes mentioned above, the new iMac model is more or less the same. But of course, users will still be able to upgrade the default specs to their liking. So if you’re looking for an all-in-one and you don’t mind getting the type of performance a MacBook Air offers, then this new iMac might be perfect for you.
