Sydney visual effects and animation house Animal Logic has signed a co-development deal with the Hollywood studio Warner Bros.
After their successful collaboration on George Miller’s Oscar-winning feature Happy Feet, the two will develop and co-produce a slate of animated feature films, the first of which is expected to be announced within two months.
“There was already a really good relationship with the key people at Warner Bros and it was our intent to find a way to work together,” said Animal Logic chief executive Zareh Nalbandian.
“It was always our aim to be recognised for our above-the-line talent rather than our below-the-line facilities.”
Animal Logic has grown from a visual effects, animation and design house for the advertising and television industries into a powerful player on the big screen, with credits including The Matrix and House of Flying Daggers. It recently produced a worldwide branding redesign for the Cartoon Network and was instrumental in the design of the box-office hit 300. It is also working on Spike Jonze’s film adaptation of the children’s classic Where the Wild Things Are, and will contribute to Baz Luhrmann’s Australia.
