Angry Birds 2 out now on iOS and Android
Angry Birds 2, the first numbered sequel in the popular tactical bird hurling franchise, is now available as a free download for iOS and Android devices. While past instalments of Angry Birds have been released on Windows Phone, Angry Birds 2 is not presently available on Microsoft-powered handsets.
Angry Birds 2 expands on the traditional Angry Birds formula with new characters, multi-stage levels, boss fights and "magic spells". Developer Rovio has however been criticised for its "freemium" business model, where users either have to spend real world money to buy new lives, wait 30 minutes, or watch an ad. Numerous user reviews on both iTunes and Google Play call Rovio out for this practice.
The original Angry Birds game launched in 2009, and has received 13 spin-offs to date, including go-karting adventures, puzzle games, and cross-over with franchises such as a Star Wars and Transformers. An Angry Birds feature film is slated for release next year.
