Angry Birds 2 launching on July 30
Angry Birds developer Rovio overnight announced Angry Birds 2, the first numbered sequel in the popular tactical bird hurling franchise. Details are currently scarce, but Rovio has scheduled worldwide release for July 30.
Rovio did not confirm which platforms Angry Birds 2 will be available on, but many Angry Birds titles have seen a simultaneous release across iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
The original Angry Birds game launched in 2009, and has received 13 spin-offs to date, including go-karting adventures, puzzle games, and cross-over with franchises such as a Star Wars and Transformers. An Angry Birds feature film is slated for release next year.
Rovio says Angry Birds titles have been downloaded over 3 billion times to date.
