Alienware has announced the latest iteration of its flagship gaming PC, the Area 51. The new Area 51 eschews the traditional rectangular desktop form factor for a hexagonal design that looks like it came straight from the set of X-Files.
This outlandish design allegedly has practical benefits too. The angled design provides a larger space for hot air to escape out of the machine’s back, and allows for neater internal cable management.
The Area 51 packs a punch when it comes to technical specifications; it will be available in both 6 core and 8 core Intel i7 varieties, packs 32 gigabytes of RAM, and handle up to three graphics double-bay cards and five hard drives or solid state drives. The Area 51 comes liquid-cooled and factory overclocked.
Pricing and release for the Area 51 have yet to be confirmed, but we expect the price to be at least as crazy as its design.
