In a precursor that could see a plethora of such apps on the marketplace, the Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport has released an app aimed squarely at international travelers – an app that international airports in Sydney could do with, too.

In a precursor that could see a plethora of such apps on the marketplace, the Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport has released an app aimed squarely at international travelers – an app that international airports in Sydney could do with, too.
The app gives customers the latest information and updates about flights, parking, shops, restaurants and airport services at their fingertips. It is available as a free download at the iTunes App Store, Google’s Android Play Store and BlackBerry App World.
“The DFW Airport mobile app represents a breakthrough in the way our customers can navigate DFW Airport,” said Jeff Fegan, chief executive officer of DFW. “This is the first airport app that notifies DFW travelers about gate changes through a push notification, and it can also help you determine parking availability or find a bite to eat in one easy solution.”
The mobile app’s push notification feature is a first for airport-developed apps, notifying passengers who request information about changes to flight details.
The app contains features including:
- Flight information and tracking
- Flight and gate updates with alert “push” notifications
- Parking availability, locations and rates
- Restaurant and shopping locations
- “Within five minutes of my gate” feature highlighting restaurants and shopping options located nearest your gate
The application’s launch page features quick links to Flights, Parking Availability, Parking Options, Shops, Restaurants, Services, Airport Guide, Airline Guide and a Feedback button.
The DFW Airport mobile app is currently available for the Apple iOS platform, the Google Android platform and the BlackBerry platform.
