Actors paid to queue for iPhone

Apple’s marketing machine has gone out of control with reports on News.com that in Poland, actors are being paid to queue as (fake) customers to generate interest for the iPhone’s release.

The campaign is apparently being run by phone carrier, Orange to help drum up interest for the phone. “We have these fake queues at front of 20 stores around the country to drum up interest in the iPhone,” a spokesman said.

Apparently mobile phone buyers in Poland are reluctant to purchase the phone because of high monthly charges – so the telco has been forced to take matters into its own hands.
