The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission have ordered a recall for Vivo International Corporation Pty LTD’s 50” HD plasma television.

The specific model in question is the PTV50HD plasma TV with serial numbers ranging from 22091201001-22091202000 and 2209120001- 22091201000. The said television model had been found out to have a defect on the neck of the stand which may break unexpectedly and cause the television to dislodge from the stand which may pose as a potential crushing hazard to nearby consumers.

The PTV50HD was sold from November 2012 to March 2013 at BIG W Stores nationwide. The recall order was issued last March 18, 2013 and the ACCC advises consumers should cease using the stand immediately. Consumers may return the television to BIG W for a full refund or they can contact Vivo to have a replacement neck sent to them at no cost.
