Reports say that Google is planning to introduce a new generation of its Nexus 7 tablet by July this year.

The original Nexus 7 which was released through the collaboration of Google and Asus is probably one of the most successful Android tablets in recent times. This success is mainly attributable to the level of performance given by its Nvidia Tegra chip despite its affordable $199 price tag.

However, the next generation Nexus 7 maybe ditching out the Nvidia chip in exchange of a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. Google will also be using the same aggressive pricing strategy either offering the new Nexus 7 at the same $199 price point with its predecessor receiving a discount; or at $149 completely removing the old Nexus 7 tablet out of the market.

Reports have also hinted that the second Nexus tablet will have a higher resolution screen and a thinner bezel. And on top of it all, the new tablet may probably run the next version of Android – Key Lime Pie when it finally gets unveiled in July.
