3D Digital Camera Captures HD 3D Movies

Fujifilm has released what it claims to be the world’s first 3D digital camera to capture High Definition 3D movies that can be viewed with or without special glasses.

The FinePix Real 3D W3 incorporates a large LCD screen, an Auto 3D mode, stereo sound recording and the ability to shoot Real 3D video in High Definition complete with playback via direct connection to most 3D TVs using an HDMI mini-cable.

Fujifilm has replicated the human eye by combining two high quality Fujinon 3x optical zoom lenses (35-105mm equivalent) and twin 10 megapixel CCD sensors in the one chassis, which provides the option of viewing 3D images on the large LCD screen without special glasses or on 3D HD TV systems using the 3D glasses that come with the television.

It is of stainless-steel construction and incorporates a black matte finish, is ergonomically designed and measures 21.0mm at its thinnest point. The camera also has a horizontal lens cover with wave detail, which serves as the on/off switch.

It also comes with a Mini HDMI 1.4 port which enables you to connect the camera with an optional HDMI cable to enjoy high quality movies at 720p and HD photos captured at 1920 x 1080 pixels (or higher) on most 3D HD TV systems.

The camera’s built-in 3.5-inch widescreen LCD screen with 1150k resolution displays high contrast images and movies that can be viewed in 3D without the need for special glasses.

The new lenticular system uses rows of convex lenses that create a binocular parallax effect to produce a realistic 3D image with less cross-talk (image overlap) and flicker. Images on the FinePix REAL 3D W3 can be viewed in High Luminosity Mode which displays images 1.5 times brighter and reproduces colour 1.8 times deeper (compared to the previous model) allowing for clear, distinct and vivid images.

The 3D and 2D Auto functions allow you to capture high definition, HD movies and photos, with audio captured in stereo to preserve its original impact. Photo data captured by the dual lens CCD system is processed by the newly developed Real Photo (RP) Processor 3D HD which merges the left and right images into a single image. This processor is also the power behind 3D Auto – the function that lets even first time users capture stunning 3D HD quality photos.

The FinePix REAL3D includes advanced 3D and 2D capture modes. With Individual Shutter 3D Shooting you can capture two shots of the same subject from different positions. The camera then automatically merges and saves the two images as a single 3D image. Photos of distant subjects like mountains and skyscrapers look spectacular in enhanced 3D, while close-up subjects like flowers come to life in natural 3D.

Interval 3D Shooting is ideal when capturing scenes from a moving position with an extra deep 3D effect created by taking two successive shots from different viewpoints.

The Advanced 2D Modes uses two lenses and sensors independently as if you were shooting with two separate cameras. Different settings can be selected for each image capture system enabling you to capture two different photos of the same scene at the same instant.

With Tele/Wide Simultaneous Shooting you can zoom in on your subject while also taking a wide angle shot of the same scene. At the press of the shutter, Two-Colour Simultaneous Shooting allows you to capture photos of the same scene with a different colour tonality. One lens system can be set to vivid colours while the other can be set to vintage black and white or perhaps standard black and white. Dual Sensitivity Simultaneous Shooting allows you to choose different sensitivity settings enabling you to shoot the same image as high sensitivity or low sensitivity. For example, you can capture two shots with different levels of background blur or shoot a dimly lit scene with blur reduction prioritised in one shot and image quality prioritised in the other.
