The Mova Z70 Ultra Roller is the brand’s flagship robot vacuum, combining many of the best and most advanced features I’ve seen on robot vacuums so far this year.
Built around powerful navigation, a large roller-style mop, and a swing-out sweeping arm, the Z70 Ultra Roller delivers a thorough clean that reaches all the way into corners and along edges.
The Z70 Ultra Roller’s party trick is the lifting chassis that allows the robot to cross single thresholds up to around 48 millimetres, allowing it to climb into rooms many other robots can’t reach.
Its price point places it firmly at the premium end of the market, but the blend of advanced features justifies the cost. If you’re after thorough cleaning results, the Z70 Ultra Roller delivers.

Setup & First Impressions
Getting the Mova Z70 Ultra Roller running is painless. All of the parts come preinstalled, so setup is mostly just a matter of removing the protective materials, attaching the ramp extension to the dock, filling up the clean water tank and cleaning solution reservoir, and plugging it in.
The Complete edition includes spare brushes, dust bags, filters, and rollers in the box, so you’ll be all set for consumables for a while.
Connecting to the MOVAhome app took two attempts. After that small hitch, it’s been a smooth experience. Account setup went without a problem too, which I mention because some app store reviewers have reported otherwise.
Design & Aesthetics
The Z70 Ultra Roller comes in either a Brushed Metallic or Natural Stone Black finish. Ours is the Brushed Metallic finish, which comes with a glittery finish on the dock’s front panel.
The dock has a clever layout with a flap on top that hides the clean and dirty water tanks and a front flap covering the dust bag, filter, and cleaning solution tank. The robot tucks partway into the dock, meaning the whole unit looks tidy.

Life With the Mova Z70 Ultra Roller
The Z70 Ultra Roller slots into a cleaning routine easily. After watching it for the first few runs, I trusted it enough to set it off away from home and come back to clean floors.
Positives
The Z70 Ultra Roller’s best trick is its climbing ability. Two of my rooms have 30 millimetre vertical thresholds that stumped other robots that lack a climbing mechanism, but the Z70 lifts itself up and drives straight in. It can climb a single step of up to 48 millimetres, and its confident approach is impressive.
Once the map is set, the robot is easy to live with. Just keep the water tanks maintained and there’s not much else to deal with on a week-to-week basis.
Mapping was quick and accurate aside from the floor length mirrors that trip up every robot I’ve tested this year. Walls and boundaries were spot on, though I did need to adjust a few room divisions and no-go areas.
Negatives
One of the biggest quirks is the lack of polish in the app. Both the spoken alerts and descriptions in the app use slightly broken English, with odd capitalisation, spelling mistakes, and clumsy phrasing. It’s mostly harmless, but it shows a lack of polish.
Its obstacle avoidance can be a little overly cautious. The gap between my couch and coffee table is slightly wider than the robot, but during most runs it avoided that area entirely. In practice, you may need to adjust some furniture placement to get full coverage.

Performance & Reliability
Cleaning is where the Z70 Ultra Roller earns its price. On tile, it picks up everything and leaves a clean finish. The roller design helps to prevent streaking and contamination, as the robot sprays the brush with fresh water and scrapes it clean, while dirty water is sucked away. That’s a cleaner design than the spinning pad type found on other robots.
Carpet performance is impressive too. The robot pulls debris out of carpets and rugs well, while sealing the roller away so as to prevent any spills.
Corners are often a robot vacuum’s weak point, because the roller can’t reach the wall. Mova gets around this with an arm that extends the sweeper along edges and into corners. It’s entertaining to watch the Z70 Ultra Roller shove its little arm into a corner to sweep up.
Reliability has been excellent. Scheduled cleaning runs on time, and the app has been stable the whole time.

Practical Considerations
Day to day, the dock handles most of the maintenance work. It automatically empties the robot into a four-litre dust bag that Mova quotes as lasting up to 125 days. It also washes the roller in water that has been heated to 100°C, dries it with 70°C air, and sterilises it with UV light. The water tanks need regular maintenance, roughly every three to four runs.
The roller, dust bags, filters, and brushes need regular replacement as they wear. The roller is recommended for replacement roughly every three to six months, and dust bags should last about four months.
Mova backs the Z70 Ultra Roller with a three-year warranty.

Value & Alternatives
At $2999 RRP, the Z70 Ultra Roller is positioned against some of the best robot vacuums on the market, and it holds its own against the alternatives.
The Ecovacs Deebot X12S OmniCyclone is the obvious rival at the same price point. It also uses a roller mop design, along with a bagless dock that keeps running costs down. Its climbing system only allows for smaller thresholds at up to 24 millimetres.
The Roborock Saros 20 also carries the same RRP, but uses spinning mop pads rather than a roller. Its main advantage is a slimmer body to fit under furniture more easily.
If your home has small steps into rooms, the Mova Z70’s confident climbing makes a strong case for itself.
Would I Buy It With My Own Money?
Yes. The Mova Z70 Ultra Roller is a reliable cleaner with a great party trick, and it’s been one of the best robovacs I’ve reviewed this year. At $2999, it’s a touch steep, but the cleaning quality backs up the price.
