The TCL IFA 2026 booth features the new NXTPAPER P80 series phones, and the two at the top of the range are the first in the world to combine AMOLED panels with TCL’S NXTPAPER eye-care focused glare and blue light reduction tech.
The P80 Ultra and P80 Pro are near-identical phones on paper, sharing the same 6.83-inch NXTPAPER AMOLED screen, the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Elite chipset, and 8GB of RAM. They also feature 5800mAh silicon-carbon battery units, IP68 dust and water resistance, and up to 512GB onboard storage.
Cameras
The biggest difference between these two phones is the camera unit.
The TCL P80 Ultra features a 50-megapixel 3x periscope telephoto camera with optical and electronic image stabilisation for blur-free shooting even while zoomed in. Alongside it is the 50-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and OIS + EIS. Additionally, it features an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens.
TCL bundles MuseFilm imaging filters on the P80 Ultra, comprised of five inbuilt filters that deliver a distinctive look without the need for a separate editing app.
The TCL P80 Pro eliminates the periscope lens and the MuseFilm filters, but keeps the same 50-megapixel main lens and 8-megapixel ultrawide as the P80 Ultra.
NXTPAPER modes
Both phones feature a dedicated NXTPAPER key that toggles between standard AMOLED mode like other phones, Paper Mode that provides paper-like colours with up to five profiles, and Max Ink Mode that provides a monochrome, distraction-free reading layout.
The idea behind it is reduced glare, reduced blue light emission, and automatic brightness and colour temperature adjustments based on ambient lighting conditions. Essentially, they appear as a e-reader display modes built into a standard AMOLED panel.
Pricing and availability
TCL hasn’t yet published pricing, and confirmed availability is EU-only for now.
The P80 Ultra comes in 256GB or 512GB models in Midnight Blue, Sunlit Gold, and the 512GB exclusive Burgundy colourway.
The P80 Pro comes in the same storage and colours with the exception of the Burgundy colourway.
NXTPAPER tablets
Alongside the new phones, the Tab A1 series tablets come in 11-inch or 12.2-inch screen sizes.
The Tab A1 NXTPAPER features an 11-inch 2.1K display with 90Hz refresh rate, while the Tab A1 Plus NXTPAPER steps up to 2.4K resolution with a slightly different aspect ratio of 3:2 and refresh rate up to 120Hz.
Both feature large silicon-carbon batteries, with 8000 mAh and 10,000 mAh respectively, and the Tab A1 Plus NXTPAPER features a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor for improved performance while multitasking.
Both are compatible with the TCL T-Pen 2 for features like Circle To Search, notetaking, drawing, and writing tools.
