ASUS proves yet again that it is willing to push the envelope, indeed fold it too at ASUS CES 2022. The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is genuinely incredible.

Sage marketing advice is that you need to occupy the innovation and desirability niches to get out of the red ocean (where all the brands compete). ASUS CES 2022 (like its prior CES efforts) did not disappoint, and in fact, its decision to take risks has made it a Fortune World’s Most Admired Company in 2021.

It may be no coincidence that the new ASUS Logo resembles the Star Trek logo.

ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED

It is a 17.3-inch foldable OLED (FOLED) Intel Evo class laptop. Unfolded it is 4:3 17.3-inch 2.5K, 2560×1920, 1 billion colour, 350/500 nits (typical/peak), 133% sRGB, 100% DCI-P3, DisplayHDR500, Pantone Validated, Dolby Vision/Atmos decode/downmix 60Hz touchscreen. It folds in the middle to create two seamless 3:2 12.5-inch 1920 x 1280 displays.

Combined with the full-size ASUS ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad (19mm caps, 1.4mm throw), the folding design provides the versatility of multiple modes — PC, Laptop, Tablet, On-Screen Keyboard, Book and Extend.

It has a 12th Generation Intel Core i7-1250U, Intel Iris® Xe graphics, 16GB/1TB, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and 65W upstream charging of the 75 Wh battery. The fold has been tested to 30,000 cycles, has MIL-STD 801H and is 37.85 x 28.76 x 0.87 ~ 1.17 cm x 1.65kg

This is for space passing S Space Systems Command Standard (SMC-S-016A) Compliant for extreme vibration and high/low-temperature extremes. Its Zero-G Titanium chassis is also MIL-STD 810H for altitude, high/low temperature, drop, vibration and humidity.

If you are more down to earth this is the Zenbook you need – not necessarily want. It is lighter at 1.39kg, has more ports, has an innovative numeric keypad in the touchpad and comes in Aqua Celadon or Ponder Blue.

If you can live in the cloud and use Google productivity apps, this is one of the best Chromebooks I have seen.

ASUS ExpertBook B5 series (B5402C – Clamshell and B5402F – Flip)

As the name implies, ExpertBook is for business performance and reliability. They are asl light (1.25kg) and MIL-STD 810H. A feature is dual PCIe SSD slots (with RAID support), up to 48GB of RAM and business style extendable warranties. These have 11^th Gen Intel Core (i5-1155G7 and i7-1195G7), Intel X^e, 2 x TB4, Wi-Fi 6E, and BT 5.1.

ASUS ProArt 15.6” Display PA169CDV

ASUS ProArt Display PA169CDV is a 15.6-inch 4K UHD IPS display that includes Wacom EMR technology for compatibility with the bundled ProArt Pen. Built for professional creatives, it offers stunning 4K resolution and targets the specifications for DisplayHDR 400 certification. Its innovative design includes two kickstands for versatile use — the upper kickstand tilts PA169CDV slightly for drawing and sketching, while the lower kickstand props it up to an ideal angle for use as a secondary display.
