World of Warcraft to get local Australian servers

Blizzard last night announced that local Australian World of Warcraft servers will go live on October 28, ahead of the November 13 launch of Warlords of Draenor, the game's latest expansion.

While Oceanic World of Warcraft servers that follow Australian time-zones are currently available, the servers themselves are currently hosted in the United States. These will transfer to an Australian location during an extended maintenance next Tuesday.

Australian players currently playing on a North American server will be given a two-week window in which they will be able to transfer their character to an Australian server for free. Players will still have to pay the transfer fee, but it will be reimbursed within 72 hours.

Blizzard has posted a comprehensive FAQ about the transfer here.
