For the first time in four years, Japan’s lucrative video game market has recorded a drop in sales.

According to figures published in Enterbrain, which tracks the sales of video games and consoles. Video games and console sales dropped 15.3 per cent last year compared with 2007 to Y582.6 billion ($A8.69 billion), Enterbrain blames the drop in figures on a lack of new consoles – explaining high sales figures in 2007 and 2008 on the launch of the PS3 and Wii respectively.
