Toshiba Netbooks Offer Multimedia Experience

Consumers can stream content to their TV, browse the web and listen to music with Toshiba’s new range of netbooks.

Designed to be lightweight, the new multi-media netbook experience allows users to also create quality content for social media networks as well as watch movies, claims Toshiba.

“The NB550D and NB500 netbooks fuse capable computing with advanced multimedia functionality,” said Justin White,Product Marketing Manager, Toshiba Information Systems Division (ISD).“Our goal was to introduce several new features such as HDMI and premium Harman/Kardon speakers in a lightweight portable media device.”

The new range comes in five colours: orange, blue, copper brown, lime green and black (only in the NB500). Each netbook weighs just over a kilo with the NB550D series powered by Intel’s Atom CPU and the NB500 by AMD’s Fusion processor.

The NB550D netbook is designed for people who enjoy listening to music, watching videos and web-surfing whilst on the go. It comes with speakers from Harman/Kardon. Together with Toshiba’s Sleep-and-Music function, the NB550D allows you to play music even if the PC is switched off.

The NB550D also includes HD video capabilities and Dolby Advanced Audio settings plus, the HDMI connectivity combined with Toshiba’s Media Controller Software means users can stream high-quality content to your TV or other multimedia devices.

The NB500 netbook is designed for  home or school, with up to eight hours battery life. It provides fast data transfer, with integrated WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity allowing users to surf the net quickly. This netbook features a lightweight thin design with soft black rubber casing. With a bright 10.1-inch display it features a large touchpad with multi-touch control and fingerprint-resistant palm rest.
