Telcos are targeting Facebook users as a source of new revenue with plans to make mobile recharges available online on the social networking site.

With more than three million Australians currently using the website, the untapped potential for companies to market their goods and services to a captive audience is marked.

Melbourne software company Enterprise Glue is the company behind the mobile recharge service – they have developed an app that can be downloaded to user’s Facebook page; making account recharging as simple as clicking a button.

According to reports in The Australian, Enterprise Glue managing director Ken Tan will not say which telcos are keen on using the product but expects to make an announcement soon.

Comments Tan: “This is about using Facebook as a targeted marketing and sales channel. This application transforms the telcos’ supply chain, because now their customers won’t have to walk into a supermarket to buy their top-up vouchers.”
