Tag Heuer Connected is a USD$1,500 Android Wear smartwatch
Luxury watch manufacturer Tag Heuer today unveiled its very first piece of wearable tech: a smartwatch dubbed the Tag Heuer Connected. Based on its famed line of Carrera watches, the Tag Heuer Connected is a titanium-clad Android Wear-powered gadget that retails for USD$1,500
The Tag Heuer Connected pairs a Swiss-made body with internals from Intel. Specifications include an Intel 1.6GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 360×360 pixel 1.5-inch display, and a 410mAh battery said to last just over 24 hours. A heart-rate monitor is a notable omission.
On the software side of things, Tag Heuer has added a number of its own exclusive watch faces to Android Wear, in addition to preloaded apps for golf, motoring, and restaurant recommendations. The Tag Heuer Connected is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.
After the Tag Heuer's two-year warranty period is up, owners have the option to exchange it for a mechanical Carrera with a similar design. The trade will cost an additional USD$1,500.
While the Tag Heuer Connected is available internationally starting today, local pricing and availability has yet to be confirmed.
