“It is one giant window into the Apple world, and is an invitation for anyone to come in,” Apple vice-president of retail, Ron Johnson, said.

“It is one giant window into the Apple world, and is an invitation for anyone to come in,” Apple vice-president of retail, Ron Johnson, said as he welcomed journalists from around the Australia to a media preview of the 215th Apple flagship store.

The store officially opens at 5pm tomorrow (June 19) and will offer customers a world of Apple paraphernalia. Split over three levels, the gleaming glass fronted shop is a temple to all things Apple.

After entering the store (where they will be greeted by an orange tee shirt – i know people – wearing concierge) customers will be free to browse at will. With free WiFi access, the store is bound to be a hotspot…

The lower level is devoted to all things Mac with 90 macs on display – everything from desktops to the latest Air.

Up one level (via a flight of magnificent perspex stairs, you reach the home of all things portable – some 60 iPods are currently on display with the iPhone to be added come next month. It’s here that you can also find all manner of accessory for your iPod.

The store’s top level plays host to the ‘genius bar’ aka the Apple store’s services department, with training areas, seminar spaces and what Apple says is the largest “Genius Bar” at any of its worldwide stores. It’s here you can chat with the “smartest mac people in town”.

According to Johnson, the store is the second largest of Apple’s retail stores, dwarfed only by London’s Regent St store.
