Sony Australia is recalling over 4000 Vaio TZ laptops from suppliers and customers after discovering a flaw that could potentially cause the laptop to overheat or burn the user.

Sony Australia is recalling over 4000 Vaio TZ laptops from suppliers and customers after discovering a flaw that could potentially cause the laptop to overheat or burn the user.

The company said it recently discovered flaws with the VGN TZ series notebooks sold between May 2007 and July 2008. Sony is offering a free inspection service for customers worried that they may have a laptop affected by the issue.

According to reports in The Australian a Sony spokesman has said the “The symptom may arise in which the unit’s plastic could be deformed in the DC jack inlet or LCD surrounding area due to extreme high temperatures.

“The voluntary repair service has the potential to affect approximately 4300 TZ series notebooks in Australia.”
