Sony bringing Spotify to PlayStation, shutting down Music Unlimited
Sony today announced that it will team up with Spotify to launch a service called PlayStation Music this Autumn. The service will bring Spotify to Sony devices and support both its free and premium tiers. Additionally, PlayStation 4 owners will be able to use Spotify while playing games.
PlayStation Music will initially be made available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and on Xperia smartphones and tablets. Sony did not confirm whether the PlayStation Vita would support the new service.
PlayStation Music will replace Music Unlimited, Sony's current music-on-demand offering. As a result, Sony is shutting down Music Unlimited on March 29 and will offer all current subscribers a free month of access beginning February 28.
