Senator Conroy calls for public opinion on web filtering
Communications Minister Stephen Conroy has called for public opinion on the government’s planned mandatory web filtering program. The Senator has launched a site – The Digital Economy Future Directions blog to gather public opinion on the future of Australia’s Digital policy.
Already the blog has a attracted a number of impassioned posts from the public, that believe Conroy’s mandatory internet filter will have impact on freedom of speech and create an environment for government censorship. Meanwhile Conroy is inviting visitors to the site to map out their ideas on the future of Australia’s digital economy, with a view to including them in upcoming policy documents in 2009.Check out the blog.
