Scarface heads to Wii in 2007

Publisher Vivendi Games has announced that it is planning to release a version of successful movie licensed title ScarFace: The World Is Yours for Nintendo’s Wii console.

The game, which was published on PS2 and Xbox last year and has sold over 1.5 million units on those platforms to date, will sport a brand new motion-sensing control system when it appears on the Wii, as well as a number of graphical and gameplay enhancements.

While Nintendo’s strong focus on the Wii’s family friendly attributes has meant that many of the titles announced for the console to date have been child-friendly, ScarFace is a distinctly mature proposition – both due to the adult content and themes of the award-winning 1983 movie on which it is based, and the violent and strong language filled nature of the game itself.

The headline features of the Xbox and PS2 versions – including an extremely high-profile cast and an extensive soundtrack of licensed music, much of it from the eighties period depicted in the game – will, of course, remain intact in the Wii version. A final release date for the title has not been announced as yet.
