Another brand making an announcement today at the 2013 Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the Korean Samsung with its Galaxy Note 8.0

The Galaxy Note 8.0 which has been running around internet rumour mills for quite some time now will sit between the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the Galaxy Note II in Samsung’s Galaxy Note Android range.

The Note 8.0 as the name suggest will feature an 8-inch screen with a resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 189 pixels per inch. The device will come in either 16GB or 32GB variants with support for microSD card expansion.

There will be a 5-megapixel camera at the back of the tablet with autofocus, geo-tagging and will be able to capture videos at 1080p, while a 1.3-megapixel camera is placed at the front of the device for self-portraits and video calls.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 will use an Exynos 4412 chipset with a 1.6 GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 processor and a Mali-400MP GPU. It will run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly bean and will have the company’s latest TouchWiz UI. And just like other members of the Note family, the Galaxy Note 8.0 will feature the S Pen which packs Wacom tech.

Moreover, the Note 8.0 will sport various software including Smart Stay, a feature that tracks eye movement to control backlight settings, Direct Call, a number of S Pen-centric apps, support for telephony, Samsung Hubs and a Smart Remote which uses the tablets IR port, located on its right side.

There is no additional information in terms of the pricing, but the Galaxy Note 8.0 will be available globally by Q2 of this year and will come in Wi-Fi only, 3G and 4G LTE variants.
