Samsung Take On iPhone

Samsung’s latest offering in the mobile phone space looks set to give the iPhone a run for its money

Samsung’s UltraTouch smartphone comes with an easy-to-use touch screen and a slide-out numeric keypad, which means users can operate the handset in full touch mode, or slide out the keypad.

The ultra-slim 13mm UltraTouch sports red contoured lines on the front, a polished black keyboard and brushed metal frame that is subtle enough to appeal to both men and women.

Its slide-out keypad is enhanced by a 2.8-inch, AMOLED touch screen, offering good brightness and clarity, claims Samsung. The screen also means your movies and photos will be displayed in more vibrant colours with better contrast, higher definition and deeper blacks.

Consumers will be able to control and customise their mobile easily and intuitively. Mobile widgets can be dragged and placed on the screen for one-touch access to applications while ‘Haptic Touch’ offers vibrating feedback when touching the screen.

It also has an 8 megapixel camera with a dual power LED flash and smile shot mode. Geo-tagging then lets users tag photos with geographic information, making them easier to use on social networking and photo sharing sites like Flickr and Twitter.

Other features include With Find Music, which identifies favourite tracks – record a 10 second clip of the song, send it to the music recognition server and get the title and artist information returned within seconds. Then there is Fake Call, which helps get out of awkward situations by simulating a phone call and playing back a pre-recorded voice message when answered so as to not give you away.

Powered with HSDPA 7.2Mbps the UltraTOUCH gives internet access, and users can automatically change between landscape and portrait due to its web auto rotation function. When users play videos auto rotation is also available meaning they can watch videos in widescreen.
