A few days ago LG announced their first smart bulb in the market. Today, the other Korean tech giant released their own version of a smart light bulb.

Unlike LG’s smart bulb, Samsung’s version will be able to connect to smart devices via Bluetooth. According to the Korean company, using Bluetooth for connecting the bulb to device will eliminate the need for a bridge and wireless access point, which should enable the user to connect and control the bulb directly from a smartphone or tablet.

Samsung is also releasing an app that can give a user access and control of up to 64 smart bulbs with no additional equipment or setup required. Moreover, a user will be able to control the bulb’s brightness from 2700K (warm light) to 6500K (cool white light).

The bulb is expected to have a lifetime of around 15000 hours or approximately 10 years on a 4 hours a day usage. The Samsung Smart light bulb will be launched at the Light + Building 2014 trade fair for architecture and technology in Frankfurt, Germany from March 30 to April 4, 2014.
