Review: The Simpsons Phone – Samsung M300

We’re taking a look at the Samsung M300 which has been revamped with a bright yellow theme to give it that fresh Simpsons styling that we all secretly crave. This phone also has a Homer badge which flashes when people call you or when you receive an sms. You can attach this badge to the front or the back of the phone.
There are also five Simpsons backgrounds which are based on the new motion picture.

Now keep in mind that this is an entry level mobile that would suit a younger crowd, or a big fan of the series – so don’t expect this to be an award winning gadget. In terms of features there’s an FM radio, VGA Camera, WAP Browser, and a game called Snow Ball Fight. The screen is a low-res 128 by 160 pixel display and there’s also an external screen which displays the time. And finally, you also get a stereo headset which does the job, but the audio quality isn’t the greatest. It’s also worth mentioning that the menu system is fairly confusing, however this always tends to be the case with these lower end handsets.

In terms of size the Samsung M300 is tiny, it fits in the palm of your hands and it weighs less then 70 grams. It also feels fairly solid and it looks as if it could take a beating, not that we recommend you go out of your way to test its limits. But it could probably withstand a little bit of mobile hacky sack and that’s always good to see.

For a very low price you do get a funky looking mobile that the kids would jump at. However this phone is no workhorse, so keep that in mind if you’re taken by the cute yellow design. The Simpsons M300 is a nice concept in celebration of The Simpsons Movie, there were rumours on the Internet of a more advanced Simpsons phone however you won’t find it for sale in Australia, or probably anywhere for that matter as it’s extremely rare. The Samsung M300 Simpsons Phone is available at all good phone and retailers and for less then 130 bucks it definitely won’t break the piggy bank.
