Review: Mario Kart 8

Online

Online multiplayer has been seamlessly integrated into the game. Up to 12 players can race online. It was easy finding a race; you can search for players to race with from all around the world or just from your region. The Australian region encompasses all PAL territories, meaning you'll occasionally race against a friendly Frenchman or Swede.

Online races are great fun, providing an extra bit of challenge. While I'm consistently able to wipe the floor with the AI, the tables turn online. Overall, the online mode is a great reason to keep coming back to Mario Kart, even when you have no one to play local multiplayer with.

Conclusion

Mario Kart 8 is a great reason to own a Wii U. As fun as titles like Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty and Halo are, none of them can compare to the pure unadulterated glee Mario Kart provides. Mario Kart 8 is a joy to play, gorgeous to look at, and guaranteed to leave you with a smile.
