Panasonic Launches Rugged Range of Compacts

  • Designed for people on the go
  • Compatible with Apple iFrame format
  • Array of connectivity

Panasonic has expanded its mobile camera range with the launch of two new Full High Definition models.

The HM-TA20 is a Full High Definition mobile camera that is waterproof to approximately 3m, shockproof up to 1.5m and is also dustproof. Its lightweight body and tough exterior make ideal for people on the go. The companion model, the HM-TA2, offers all the features of the TA20, without the rugged design.

Both units shoot Full HD 1920 x 1080 videos, record in MPEG-4 AVC file format (MP4) and are also compatible with the Apple iFrame video format.  Night View Mode, offering twice the brightness of the previous model, makes it possible to shoot high quality video and photos, even in low light. The 3-inch LCD touchscreen and one button operation for recordingmake the cameras easy and intuitive to use, claims Panasonic.

Both have an array of connectivity features including an integrated USB terminal, SD Card slot and mini HDMI input, which means editing, sharing and uploading images to YouTube or Facebook is instantaneous.

By connecting the mobile camera to a computer, it becomes a web camera for free Skype-based calls with friends and family.  Additionally, voice recording has said to have been improved, for recording and storing audio.

When shooting the camera will automatically detect dim lighting, and the Mode Selector button will light up on the LCD screen. Simply press the button to start shooting with Night View Mode. This function makes it possible to shoot bright images even in dimly lit conditions, such as nightclub, bar or party scenes.

The mobile camera’s USB terminal is located on the bottom of the camera and retracts into the body when not in use. By sliding out the terminal and plugging it into a PC, the built-in software automatically loads and recorded images can be played and edited on a PC without having to use a connection cord.  This makes it easy to share photos or videos over the Internet in an instant.

HD Writer PE 2.0 software automatically launches when the camera is connected to a PC through the integrated USB terminal and lets users view, edit and upload images with ease. With operation this simple, users can instantly share videos with family and friends.
