Ouya – the much anticipated Android-powered gaming console will soon be shipped to its original Kickstarter backers.

The project of developing an Android-based gaming console started around 6-7 months ago when Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman started a Kickstarter campaign to create a gaming console that will allow developers and hackers to create games in an open-source platform, which lead to the birth of OUYA.

And now, a few months after the developer kits were sent out to hackers and programmers, the first batch of OUYA consoles will start shipping by March 28. This first set of consoles will go to the tens of thousands who invested on the project. These backers will first receive an email with a tracking number and estimated delivery date.

For those who weren’t fortunate enough to get the first batch, Ouya says its full commercial launch will be on June where it will be available at various retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and Target. As for game titles, reports say that at least 10 titles will be made available upon the game console’s release in June.
