Optus becomes the first telco to open an application store for mobile phone users
Optus has opend an application store for it mobile phone customers that allows them to purchase and download applications for use on their compatible 2G and 3G enabled Symbian, Android, Blackberry, Windows media and Java handsets.
“The Optus Application Store gives our customers an easy to navigate ‘one stop shop’ to purchase a full suite of applications via Optus Zoo,” Mark Mulder, General Manager of Optus Content and Portals said. “With close to 1000 applications available to customers at launch, and the ability to browse via rating, category or review, we are confident there will be something of interest for everyone.”
The Optus Application Store has a variety of categories including games, utilities, entertainment, music, social networking, finance, sports, business, lifestyle, productivity, education, books, weather, navigation, health and fitness, medical, themes, photography, news and reference.
Customers will be charged a one time purchase fee for the APP and all subsequent data usage from the application.
To access the Optus Application Store users click on the APP Store icon in Optus ZOO via a mobile or SMS ‘APP’ to 966.
