Nokia’s Ovi Store Opens With Release Of N97

After much anticipation, the Nokia N97 has an arrival date

As mentioned by Cybershack at the beginning of June, Nokia’s flagship mobile phone cum computer was due on our shores soon, and Nokia have released a date of mid-July when ti will be available.

It will come with Ovi Store, which offers easy access to applications, games, videos, podcasts, web and location-based services.

The unit features a tilting 3.5-inch touch display and Qwerty keyboard, a five megapixel camera with integrated Carl Zeiss optics, and 32GB built-in storage. The handset’s customisable home screen brings live widget feeds such as social networking destinations, news services, shopping, sport and weather information direct to the device.

Ovi Store has paid and free content from a range of global and local content providers. Global partners include Paramount, Facebook, MySpace, Disney, eBay, Fox Mobile, Reuters, AccuWeather and EA. Local content providers supporting Ovi Store include ABC, Austereo, News Digital Media and Lookoutmobile, which offers AFL and NRL updates. In addition to the Nokia N97, Ovi Store is now accessible from over 75 Nokia devices in five languages.

The Australian Ovi Store supports operator billing through Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Crazy John’s. Credit card billing is available through the mobile application and the mobile website (store.ovi.com).

The Ovis Store can be used by most modern Nokia handsets and is seen as a one-stop-shop for new mobile content.

The Nokia N97 will be available through Optus, Vodafone and selected retailers.
