Did you know that more than 1.2 million mobile phones were lost due to water related accidents last year? Well what if there was a solution and you didn’t even know it was being used.

Did you know that more than 1.2 million mobile phones were lost due to water related accidents last year? Well what if there was a solution and you didn’t even know it was being used.

Scientists at the UK’s Ministry of Defense have created a technology called Ion-Mask which is used to repel water and other liquids from electronics. Making the surfaces mobile phones, mp3 players, and even the individual components inside the electronics goods repel the water means that instead of trying to make seals and having water eventually seep in, the water won’t actually be given the chance to find its way in.

The technology will launch outside of the military world for the first time later this year when it’s seen on sporting footwear, but you should see it on phones in the near future too.
