"People in Australian have generally payed on tiered plans," Hackett said, "meaning that if you use more data, you pay more money". "If Netflix launches and here it all goes mad in terms of usage, you'll move up to a bigger plan so you can use Netflix, your ISP gets paid a bit more and everyone's happy".

"I think we are going to get a much easier ride here," Hackett said. "I'm not saying it won't impact us, but I think the impacts will be lighter here. And as the US works out a new model for this, it may also improve things here."
