In a sign that content, mobility and storage technologies are converging, Motorola has announced the launch of a new backup and recovery service.
Motorola Backup allows users to wirelessly backup, retrieve and restore data from a mobile phone or SIM card without the use of a PC.
Using a Java-based application, users connect via the phone to Motorola’s Backup servers, initiating a backup session.
The service can also be operated from a PC via the
www.motorolabackup.com website. Users can add, delete or update contacts and have the changes applied via the Backup service.
The new service will initially be offered via a free 30 day trial, with a subsequent monthly charge of $3 to maintain the service.
