Microsoft is launching the first consumer surface computer, Microsoft Surface. The device operates via hand gestures or by placing physical objects on the computer’s surface.
The device lays flat on a table with a 72.6cm surface that acts as a normal personal computer. You can touch anywhere with multiple fingers. You can touch and drag the surface for instance, photos.
There is a camera inside the PC that recognises where you’re touching. This is a Windows personal computer with a surface capability. You can for instance, place a digital camera on the device and it will automatically recognise the camera and wirelesly connect it so that the pictures automatically spill out onto the surface of the device.
This PC is visually very appealing and will definitely appeal to not only the tech savvy but those who have been reluctant to adopt PC technology.
Microsoft officials say Surface, the company’s first device in its new category of surface computing products, is designed to simplify a user’s interaction with digital content such as photos and music. The device was unveiled May 30 during the Wall Street Journal’s : All Things Digital Conference.
