Microsoft Cuts Vista Support

As of 2 days ago, Microsoft has cut tech support for those PCs running Windows Vista without an installed service pack, also known as RTM/SP0.

As of 2 days ago, Microsoft has cut tech support for those PCs running Windows Vista without an installed service pack, also known as RTM/SP0.

According to a statement from Microsoft, users still on Windows Vista without a service pack installed should install the latest service pack, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1), available via the Microsoft Update website (http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate).

Alternatively, users may wish to consider trying out the additional features and benefits in Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 7 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/).

A number of other Microsoft products and service packs will be going through support transitions in the coming months says Microsoft, including from 13 July 2010;

· All versions of Windows 2000 (including Windows 2000 Server) and Windows XP SP2 will reach the end of support. (This will be the end of support for Windows 2000).

· All editions of Windows Server 2003 will be moving from the Mainstream Support phase to the Extended Support phase.
