LG’s curved OLED TV is not only a symbol of the company’s engineering prowess but it also a symbol of the Korean manufacturer’s visions of a green and sustainable environment as it earns three globally recognized green certifications for its ecologically friendly construction.

The TVs first certification comes from Intertek. To be able to earn Intertek’s Green Leaf Mark, a product must be able to meet a set of stringent performance and manufacturing standards.  The organisation also investigates the technologies and methods used throughout the manufacturing process before it gives its stamp of approval.

The two other certifications earned today by LG came from the European Commission’s EU Ecolabel and the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT). This prestigious label certified that a product has been manufactured without any negative impacts on the environment.

The EPEAT on the other hand is a certification from a non-profit organisation that publishes a global registry of green electronic products for the benefit of both consumers and manufacturers. For a product to be included in the registry, the said product must meet no less than 24 environmental criteria related to energy efficiency, recyclability, packaging, longevity and reduction in the use of harmful materials.

The certifications received the TV were attributed to the materials used in its construction which include Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic which is a sustainable material that contributes to the extreme thinness of the device, as well as the company’s Smart Energy Saving technology which reduces energy usage by as much as 67% compared to conventional flat panel TVs.
