LG Joins Smart TV Bandwagon

  • Flicker-free 3D experience
  • 2D to 3D Conversion
  • 3D Light Boost

LG has joined its contemporaries Samsung and Panasonic by releasing its latest range of smart televisions.

Delivering 3D on the fly, LG offers viewers the option to enjoy all of their favourite 2D content in Cinema 3D. Due to a flexible viewing position, and a wider viewing angle, LG’s Cinema 3D TVs are suitable for watching 3D, or 2D converted to 3D with friends or family.

LG’s Cinema 3D glasses tip the scales at just 16 grams and, with no electrical parts, and never need to be recharged.

With LG’s Cinema 3D technology, viewers can enjoy 3D that is flicker free, claims the company. Via a polarised film on the screen, the set separates the picture into images aimed at either the left or right eye, which is then matched up through the Cinema 3D glasses. The glasses are designed to receive each image shutter-free, enabling the final 3D images to be clear and smooth.

Then there is 3D Light Boost, which is said to improve image brightness in 3D mode resulting in a substantially brighter 3D image compared to conventional shutter glass 3D technology.

On a single screen with Live TV, Premium Content, LG Apps and Launcher Bar, LG’s Home Dashboard offers simple, intuitive access to a full range of entertainment options.

Users have access to content, movies, customisable apps, videos and the web, all organised in a simple to use interface. This content is all delivered with LG’s Magic Motion Remote control, where you point, click, and control.

While many remote controls have a lot of buttons, LG has stripped down the remote to the minimum. It enables viewers to point and click, so they have no need to take their eyes off the screen when choosing and activating their choice. In addition, it has a drag-and-drop function.

Consumers will have access to content from Yahoo!7, Fox Sports, BigPond Movies, BigPond TV and more.

LG says the top dog in its Cinema 3D range is the LW6500, which is claimed to have superb picture quality in 2D and 3D. Via its Home Dashboard, it provides access to LG Apps and a range of content via topglobal providers as well as locally sourced shows. Smart Share makes it easy to share content between the TV and digital devices, and TruMotion 200Hz ensures fast screen processing.

Then there is the LW4500, which is said to offer good 3D picture along with a range of other  features. Clear Voice II enhances speech to ensure viewers won’t miss a single line of dialogue, while AV Mode II optimises picture and sound for cinema, sports and game content.
