iPod used as currency in New York

A girl in New York has been forced to hand over her iPod as a form of payment when her credit card failed to work due to a malfunctioning machine.

A girl in New York has been forced to hand over her iPod as a form of payment when her credit card failed to work due to a malfunctioning machine.

This is one of those stories where you can’t help but feel sorry and then wonder if this isn’t the next story on Law & Order followed by a mysterious cabbie murder siege.

The 20-year old tourist said that while the credit card machine didn’t work in the cab, the taxi driver threatened to “book her” (because… you know… New York taxi drivers have all the rights police do…) and demanded her iPod as a form of payment. Scared, the girl did just that.

This little piece of bad luck will probably remain unsolved until the taxi driver starts bragging about this new find to his mates, but it might be something to be aware of the next time you’re heading to the Big(ger) Apple.
